How are the Mavic and the Phantom 4 different?
The Mavic is smaller, lighter and easier to transport thanks to its folding design. Its new OcuSync transmission system has a longer range and reaches 1080p resolution. Due to its larger size, the maximum speed of the Phantom 4 is higher and can withstand stronger winds.
Does the folding mechanism wear out? Will it need to be replaced?
The folding mechanism proved to last for at least 5000 folds. It is unlikely to wear during the lifetime of the Mavic.
How are the Mavic and Phantom 4 cameras different?
The two cameras have the same functions, but the Mavic's camera has a smaller field of view, so it can focus up close to 0.5m and can rotate 90º to take pictures and selfies with portrait format. The field of vision of the Phantom 4 is greater, so it is better prepared to take panoramic images.
Is the Mavic Pro water resistant?
No. Because the Mavic's chassis is close to the ground, you should only take off and land in appropriate areas that are smooth and free of puddles.
How do you activate autofocus on the Mavic Pro camera?
The focus is essential to capture clear images. To activate autofocus:
- Touch the screen on the camera interface of the DJI GO application.
- Touch for one second to activate autofocus when using ActiveTrack, TapFly and Gesture modes. This function has to be activated from the General Settings)
- Focus on the center by clicking on a customizable button. The designated by default is C1 and can be used in normal flight or during any of the Intelligent Flight Modes.
When I use the manual focus mode my pictures are blurry even when I slide the switch all the way to infinite focus. Why?
The scope of the Mavic approach ranges from 0.5 m to infinity. Slide the bar until you reach a correct focus point. Sliding to infinity at once does not guarantee clear focus.
Can I zoom while I record?
The Mavic Pro has a 2x digital zoom, but can not zoom optical. You can zoom in any direction by swiping your finger across the screen or pressing a customizable button.
How can I enter Portrait mode?
Swipe the screen to the left and click on the Portrait / Landscape icon, or press a customizable button.
REMOTE CONTROL AND WI-FI
What is the difference between using the remote control and using the smartphone via Wi-Fi to control the Mavic?
The Mavic remote control uses OcuSync transmission technology, giving it a range of up to 7km (4.3mi) in the open field without interference, according to FCC regulations. Using the smartphone via Wi-Fi, the range is 80m and the maximum altitude of 50m, making it more appropriate for short-range use and selfies, as well as to configure ActiveTrack. You can also download Wi-Fi photos and videos directly from the Mavic to your mobile device. You can choose between Wi-Fi and RC mode, as needed, by sliding the Control Mode switch on the right side of the aircraft.
How do I change between control modes?
First, make sure the aircraft is off. Next, open the small lid that you will find on the right side of the body of the aircraft. Slide the switch to the left to enable Wi-Fi control or to the right to enable remote control.
What smartphone sizes can be attached to the Mavic's remote control?
The remote control of the Mavic can accommodate smartphones between 6.5 and 8.5 mm thick and up to 160 mm long, without housing. Larger phones and tablets do not fit in the remote control device compartment.
Can I use a regular USB cable to connect my phone and my remote control?
If you can. However, in order to have the best possible user experience, we recommend that you use a RC Mavic cable to connect the remote control to your phone.
What RC cables are included when acquiring the Mavic?
The box includes three cables: one with Lightning connector, another with standard Micro USB connector and another with a USB C connector.
What are the password and the Wi-Fi SSID by default?
For security reasons, each Mavic has its own SSID and its own password that can be found on a label on one of the front arms of the aircraft and inside the battery compartment. When using it for the first time, you can scan the QR code with the DJI GO application to connect to the aircraft * or manually enter the password in the Wi-Fi settings of your phone. (* Only available on Android devices).
Can I use other QR scan applications to scan the QR code and connect to the aircraft via Wi-Fi?
No. You have to connect to the aircraft through the DJI GO application.
How can I set the Wi-Fi password and SSID?
Connect to your Mavic via Wi-fi and enter Camera View. Now enter Wi-Fi Settings to manually change the SSID and password.
How do I reset the Wi-Fi password to its default value?
Activate Mavic's Wi-Fi mode and keep the link button pressed for five seconds.
What are the benefits of dual-band Wi-Fi?
The frequency of Wi-Fi 2.4G was developed a long time ago, the Wi-Fi 5G is newer. Being the oldest 2.4G, there are more devices that use it, making it more likely to suffer interference. The 5G frequency is less prone to interference because there are fewer devices with 5G, but not all phones are compatible with it. You can switch between the two bands in the Wi-Fi Settings menu of the DJI GO application.
What customizable buttons does Mavic Pro have?
The buttons C1, C2 and 5D of the remote control are customizable. Default setting: C1: Focuses on the center, C2: Playback, 5D Above: Re-center the stabilizer, FD Down: Tilt the stabilizer down, 5D Left: Zoom forward, 5D Right: Zoom out.
